     We have sent 12 Men to the moon, hundreds have climbed Mt. Everest, thousands have been to the Earths poles. But only TWO men have  traveled  to the world greatest abyss.     78% of our planet is water, yet we have only explored 10% of this natural habitat. There is much we don’t know and can learn much from the oceans, but the technology we use to explore these vast oceans is outdated and incapable of exploring much of the oceans greatest depths.


     The technology we use to explore the vast oceans is outdated and incapable of exploring much of the oceans greatest depths. In order to explore and learn about the planet that sustains us we need to develop new ways to travel to and explore our world’s oceans.


    If we solve for the extreme we solve for everything. The oceans greatest recorded depth is 35,786 ft (11,000M) deep, called the Marianas Trench.  In 1960 Navy LT. Dan Walsh and Jacques Piccard reached this depth in the Bathyscaphe Trieste. No human has returned since. It is possible to reach these depths using today’s technologies.


    To develop a Deep Submersible Vehicle that will provide a safe environment in which humans can travel to and from the Marianas Trench.         Breakthrough technology in D.S.V development will lead to excitement and renewed interest in exploration and conservation of our planets oceans.


    Design a manned Deep Submersible Vehicle (D.S.V) to travel to the Marianas Trench. Funded by Google for the Woods Hole Oceanographic institute to create new methods and technology to aid in the search for new life, minerals and resources.     Google has invested heavily in alternative energy and has become aware of the need to search for new resources.     The Woods Hole Oceanographic institute is a not-for profit research and educational facility focused on ocean preservation and exploration.     The development of technolgy and the cost of exploration excursions is great. The combination of Googles funding and the W.H.O.I access to technology and professionals will allow the development of new technology and methods creating a new era of exploration.
